New policy for Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults

Published May 15, 2015 by D in News

May is Safeguarding Month in the Diocese of Killaloe. In the coming weeks we will be highlighting various aspects of the new Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy in the Diocese of Killaloe.

During this safeguarding month, we need to remind ourselves what safeguarding is all about. Archbishop Eamon Martin said recently ‘Together we have created a culture of safeguarding that is becoming embedded in the Church. Risk to children and young people is minimised within a safeguarding culture where everyone plays their part in ensuring that all Church activities are safe places for children and young people.

Safeguarding within the Diocese is ever developing and after a lot of hard work our update safeguarding policy, procedures and guidelines have been completed. To go with this we have our own webpage linked to the Diocesan site.  So take a look. Killaloe Diocese Safeguarding

If you have any suggestions please let us know.

In accordance with the new policy we are now proceeding with the garda vetting of ALL Eucharistic Ministers. Eucharistic Ministers are seen as representing the parish in their ministry to all people and have a contact with all ages. If you are a Eucharistic Minister and have not been vetted for any other Parish ministry please pick up the relevant forms from the Parish Office or sacristy, complete and return them before the end of May. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation. If you wish to discuss the issue further please contact any of the parish team, our safeguarding reps or the Director of Safeguarding Killaloe Diocese.
