The celebration of First Holy Communion for the children of Mercy & Crinkill schools will take place on this Saturday morning at 11am in St Brendan’s Church, Birr. We wish each and every one all the very best and please keep them in your prayers. There is no 10am Mass on Saturday morning. First Holy Communion for St Brendan’s PS, Killeen NS & our Parish Preparation Programme takes place on Saturday 26 May at 11am and for Carrig NS in the Church of the Annunciation on Sunday 27 May at 11am.

Sacramental Preparation 2018-2020

If your child is attending a school other than our Catholic parish schools and you would like them to prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion or Confirmation, please register your interest with Joan Hogan our Sacramental Co-ordinator before 31 May on 089 4400853. There is a two-year programme for children not attending a faith-based school so a child who intends to receive the Sacrament in 2020, their preparation must begin this September. You are welcome to chat with Joan or any of the parish team for further details on the programme.

World Meeting of Families 2018

At the moment the tickets for the Festival of Families in Croke Park on Saturday Night and the Closing Mass in Phoenix Park on Sunday afternoon are not available on general release until consultations with the relevant statutory agencies on capacity, transport, security, safety and other issues are completed. When these tickets become available they will be free.  In other words there is no change to the status on the general release of tickets. The meeting for Brendan and Cronan clusters took place on Thursday 22 March. Bishop Fintan began the meeting outlining the structure and hope for it. Presentations on the diocesan pastoral plan and on the 2017 assembly of priests were made and from this a number of proposals were made by the Bishop, Ger Nash Director of Pastoral Development and Maureen Kelly Pastoral Worker.
