The Parish Pastoral Council met on Wednesday evening. It was decided to continue with plans to introduce a funeral team and more will be published on this in the coming weeks. We will also be looking at the situation regarding Sunday funerals. There will be consultation on changes to the Mass schedule but no definite decision will be made until the situation across the cluster becomes clearer. The Birr Parish Bereavement Group are hosting a talk by Elma Walsh on this Thursday evening. Elma is the Mother of the Kerry teenager Donal who touched so many lives when he came to prominence through his writings and subsequent appearance on the Brendan O’ Connor’s ‘ The Saturday Night Show ‘. Donal fund-raised tirelessly while battling Cancer. The foundation was set up by Donal’s parents and family. The foundation promotes Donal’s anti – suicide # Livelife message. The PPC met recently and was addressed by Fr Ger Nash, director of pastoral planning in the diocese of Killaloe. His words gave the PPC a sense of direction for the coming year. The need to make a short and clear pastoral plan for our parish will be the primary focus at our next meeting on 8 March to cope with the changes facing parish and cluster.
