Told in full colour picture format the book would make an excellent Christmas present. It is a special publication which is only available through parishes and there are pages dedicated to the Diocese of Killaloe. It costs €10 and is available in the Parish Office.

Memorial to the Innocents

We are delighted to have the new Memorial to the Innocents on the wall in the Garden of Tranquility. This replaces the first sculpture which unfortunately came off the wall some time ago. Thanks to our local sculptor, Yvonne Claffey for her work and co-ordinating the project.

Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council Meeting took place on Wednesday 5 October  in the Conference Room, St Brendan’s Birr. At Wednesday’s meeting an update was given on the repairs to priests houses and churches which is due for completion by mid November. The future financial implications were discussed and it was agreed to examine the sale of house/s and purchase of alternative accommodation. An independent audit of the parish is underway as a result of the Charities Act. The Marian Hall is to be advertised for leasing to interested parties. Consecration of New Bishop of Killaloe

On Friday 29th July it was announced that Pope Francis had appointed Fr. Fintan Monahan as Bishop of Killaloe. Fr. Fintan’s ordination to the episcopate will take place in the Cathedral of Ss. Peter and Paul in Ennis on Sunday 25th September 2016 at 3.00pm. You will be able to watch the entire ceremony via live internet streaming on the Diocese of Killaloe website. Canonisation of Mother Teresa

The canonisation of Mother Teresa will take place on Sunday 4th September 2016. Pope Francis will declare Blessed Teresa of Calcutta a Saint in St Peter’s Square at the Vatican during the canonisation Mass. Pilgrims will be able to venerate St Teresa’s relics in the evening at the Basilica of St John Lateran. On Monday 5th September there will be the Celebration of a Mass of thanksgiving and the first feast of St Teresa of Calcutta in St Peter’s Basilica
